Day 9 in New York

Yesterday we went on the Sex and the City tour, visiting many New York sights featured in the show, including Scout (Steve and Aidan's bar), Magnolia Bakery, Aidan's furniture shop, Buddakan (where Big and Carrie had their wedding rehearsal), the New York Public Library (where Big and Carrie almost get married), The Pleasure Chest (where Charlotte got her Rabbit), the ally where Carrie gets mugged and runs down the street screaming 'Help, he stole my strappy sandals!' and of course, numerous fashion houses (most notably along 5th Avenue and in the Meatpacking district). Plus a whole lot more. Oh we also got to see, very briefly, something being filmed on the street.

The afternoon consisted of us doing laundry, eating ice cream and me standing in line at the post office to send two boxes of stuff home so I can close my suitcase! While waiting for our laundry, all of a sudden there were cop cars and sirens everywhere, and also unmarked police cars and what looked like undercover cops jumping out and racing down the street. It was pandemonium and all within two blocks on Broadway. There were no fewer than ten police cars all over the street. We're not really sure what was happening or who they were after but, word on the street was that they were after some guy, possibly in the subway. But that's all we could figure out. It was over in 5mins. The annoying thing was it all went down outside Ben and Jerry's ice cream, where we had been sitting less than two minutes earlier. We could have seen the whole thing! *sigh* Curiosity killed the cat, at least Christie is around to stop me running to look at things!
