Farewell NYC, Hello Boston!

On Saturday we caught the bus to Cambridge, Massachusetts which is just across the river from Boston. My cousin Bec and her husband Gaj live here while they are studying at MIT and they have been nice enough to let us stay with them.

The drive from NYC to Boston

After having dinner, we went for a walk across the river to Beacon Hill, through Boston Common and into Back Bay where we had a look at some of Boston's sights and ate dessert at the Cheesecake Factory, and then caught the T (Boston's subway system) back to Kendell Square (where they live and where MIT is). At midnight, as the night ticked over to the 31st (Halloween), a bunch of MIT kids dropped over 100 pumpkins off the top of a 17-storey MIT building. This was very cool but made a lot of mess!

The crowd at MIT waiting for pumpkins!

Can you see the pumpkins falling?!

Sorry about the quality but can you see the mess at the bottom of the building?

The pumpkin remains...

And for the record, Boston is freezing!

  1. I LOVE that second photo! It's so pretty. I'm also very excited you managed to get photos of the pumpkins falling, hehe. I wonder who cleaned all that up, haha.
