Day 12 in Boston

Today, Thursday, was our last day in Boston. We set out to cram the rest of the things we wanted to see/do but time was running out. We started the day by heading straight to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum which is a museum of Isabella's home. She was a very wealthy lady and collected all forms of art and antiques from around the world. When she died, she left her collection to be used in a museum, as long as nothing was changed from the way she had it set up. Until this day, nothing has been moved, with the exception of some of the artwork which was stolen, but their frames still hang empty on the wall (since they are not allowed to be removed!). My favourite part was the stunning courtyard as alot of you know, Renaissance art and antiques really are not a big point of interest for me. Unfortunately no one is allowed to take photographs so if you would like to get some kind of idea as to what this place looks like, you will have to look at the website.

Next we made a quick stop at REI which is an outdoor equipment store where Mum was told she could find a particular beanie she had become rather fond of that Bec had. Scott, you would have loved this store! After this we caught the train to Copley Square which has the beautiful building of the Boston Public Library, Trinity Church and the Hancock Tower which reflects the buildings around it perfectly (this includes Trinity Church). The plaza also has a very cool Hare and the Tortoise statue. After this we ducked into Borders so I could try and find a book I have been looking for (which I finally found) and Mum bought some art books.

We then headed back to the apartment to try and pack up our suitcases for tomorrow and then went to watch the Boston Bruins play the Canadiens (yes the spelling is correct) from Montreal in ice hockey. It was pretty cool but we had some real 'redneck' fans behind us which was very unfortunate. You should have heard some of the crap they were screaming. Aside from these idiots, it was a good game. The Bruins lost 1-3 but the Canadeins totally deserved to win. They played so well and their goalie was fantastic.
